I’m Christopher James Hall — photographer, author, advocate, speaker, and a firm believer that one image, one story, or one conversation can change how we see the world.
This isn’t just a portfolio or a website. It’s a space where photography meets lived experience, advocacy gets personal, and the camera becomes more than just a lens — it becomes a voice. A voice for those who’ve gone unheard. A mirror held up to systems that need to do better. A quiet challenge to the way we think about homelessness, abuse, addiction, ageing, and everything in between.
My work isn’t about filters or perfection. It’s about honesty. Whether I’m photographing someone who’s never had their picture taken, writing about what it means to lose everything and start again, or standing in front of a room full of policymakers and telling the truth as I’ve lived it — it’s always rooted in real life.
I use storytelling to do more than raise awareness. I use it to create change. Because I’ve seen first-hand what happens when people are truly seen — and what happens when they’re not.
So whether I’m behind the camera, behind a mic, or holding space for someone else’s story — my focus is always the same: connection, compassion, and the kind of change that starts with listening.
Real stories. Real change. See the exhibitions and campaigns helping raise awareness for social issues.
From toilet floors to gallery walls — read my memoir and other humorous but heartfelt stories about life, loss, and finding hope in unlikely places.
Helping photographers, advocates, organisations, and charities turn ideas into impact. Whether you're just starting, building something new, or ready to run a full project — let’s talk.
Talks, panels, and lived-experience speaking for events, schools, and organisations. Because the most powerful stories are the true ones.
Every story matters. Whether it’s quiet or bold, painful or hopeful — your experience has the power to help others, shift perceptions, and drive change. If you’d like to share your story through photography or conversation, get in touch. Let’s make sure it’s heard.
This isn’t just about taking photos. It’s about shifting the lens.
Every project I run is rooted in one question: What needs to change — and who needs to be heard for that to happen?
I work with individuals and communities who are often overlooked — people affected by homelessness, addiction, dementia, domestic abuse, poverty, and more. The aim isn’t to speak for them. It’s to hand over the mic (or in this case, the camera) and let them speak for themselves.
That’s where real social change starts — not in statistics or slogans, but in stories. Raw, honest, and lived-in.
These stories don’t just sit on gallery walls. They go further. They inform councils, challenge services, and help decision-makers see the people behind the policies. They’ve been used in funding reviews, public consultations, staff training, and awareness campaigns. They get noticed — because they’re real.
I may not be able to fix everything. But it can open eyes, soften hearts, and start conversations in places where silence used to sit.
That’s the power of storytelling — not to make change easy, but to make it harder to ignore.
